thirteen buttons on the trousers and a saber with his dress uniform, you say, and he's taking you to the inaugural balls. and i die when you mention his name, when it rolls like love off your tongue. since when can he make your eyes brighten and your smile sparkle? i once thought that was to be my job, my pleasure, my future, but instead...
i'm too shy; I should have kissed you when we were alone. the pain of lost love... but it's not lost yet. you might speak of him now, but i'll wait... i've got years yet...
