I wonder if, instead of a paper, I could convince Professor Woods to let me write a screenplay for "KHAN" an epic movie based on the life of Chinggis Khan (a la the Secret History of the Mongols) along the lines of "Troy" or "Alexander."
It's either that, or contemporary sources on Saladin, and KHAN would be so much more fun....
In the opening scenes, Alan So'a (or whatever the name of that chick was) will be asleep in her tent-thingy.
Camera PANS DOWN on the sleeping form from the hole in the roof. We take in the forms of her three small sons sleeping along the walls as the camera continues DOWN. We slowly focus in on her face, into a tight CLOSE-UP which continues panning until just her eyes are visible to the audience. Her eyes open.
When the camera BACKS OUT, we see the eyes actually belong to Chinggis Khan, who is sitting in front of his four sons, in the manner of the picture shown by Woods in class. He is telling the story of the creation of the Mongols.
KHAN: ...And so the ancestors of our people are of that family, of her first three sons, born of her husband, and the last three, conceived by a being of radiant light.
et al.
Or, KHAN could be about the taking of power from Oghei's line to the other line, causing the civil war. Hmm. So many epic battles, so little time....
