I heard the bells on... er... today?

I can hear churchbells from my window again. It reminds me of Grinnell, when the entire town rang at 6pm and if you were outside, you could hear the bells going. They were nothing like the amazing carolan at the chapel here - how amazing would it be to listen to that every afternoon from your own window? - just a chorus of bells praising God and the end of the workday. The ones I can hear are the same. I don't know what denomination they belong to, but I doubt it really matters. Even the police sirens can't drown them out.

Two Memes

First, from a few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] god_of_belac tagged me to say what five worlds I would choose to live in.

1.  Wizard world from Harry Potter (JKR) - Oh, come on, who wouldn't want to be able to do their laundry with a flick of the wand?

2.  Alternate timeline from the Thursday Next books (Jasper Fforde) - Oh, come on, who wouldn't want to be able to jump into a novel and interact with the characters?

3.  Pern (Anne McCaffery) - my first favourite world, I still love it even though I grew past the writing style years back. <3 dragons.

4.  Star Trek (Gene Roddenbury) - Oh, come on... spaceships? Boldly going where no split infinitive has gone before?

5.  Futurama (some guys, including Al Gore's daughter in one season) - 3001 could be pretty cool. Especially if Dr. Zoidburg were there.

AND, for your reading pleasure... One World I would NOT want to live in:

6.  Battlestar Galactica (SciFi channel) - Spaceships? cool. Nukes destroying most of the human race? not so cool.

Secondly, a meme from [livejournal.com profile] sasha_davidovna:

Chances are people you don't even know are being introduced to your journal every day, either randomly or through someone else. In addition to recent entries, people can get to know you better by what you posted in the past. With that in mind post a link to your entries on this day three months ago, six months ago, nine months ago, a year ago, and two years ago. If there was no entry on that day, link the closest date.

3 months ago: June 25, 2005
I was watching Jeopardy in DC and lamenting over my sad, sad summer existance.

6 months ago: March 25, 2005
I whined about grades not yet being available.

9 months ago: December 25, 2004
I refrained from posting but, the night before, I pointed out that the new priest at my mother's church was nothing to be proud of, and ruined my sinuses.

1 year ago: September 25, 2004
On Septmeber 26, I crowed about meeting [livejournal.com profile] medellia44 and [livejournal.com profile] parisienne.

I took quizes (which are no longer linked), and I drabbled galore about The West Wing.
