I just read the news about Kirby Puckett - dead at 45 of a stroke. I remember, as a kid back in St Paul, watching Kirby play for the Twins, in both their World Series victories. He was the player that I, the kindergardener, knew the name of, and was excited to see up at bat. Minnesota lost something when he got hit with that ball, and eventually was diagnosed with glaucoma. While his personal life may have had problems - problems we will never really know the full extent of - as a player, he was an icon. So RIP Kirby Puckett. Minnesota will remember you.
