Wedding drabble

Am forever in [livejournal.com profile] mindmaven's debt for car duties! Thank you thank you thank you!

[livejournal.com profile] leiascully understands the feelings of many Grinnellians, myself included. I am torn.

But it's beautiful outside. I got to write drabble in Econ, I got a B+ on my last econ exam (meaning my overall class grade won't suck quite so much) , and all I need for my grad school apps are the letters of recommendation from Trish. I'm good to go.

For [livejournal.com profile] tww100's newest challenge, to write a drabble responding to a picture of a bride standing in a window.

In Good Times and In Bad

The photographer had done an amazing job, all those years ago. Abbey lifted the picture from the shelf to examine a younger version of herself, staring out the window. At what, she couldn't remember. She'd been giddy, idealistic, so in love...

"Mom?" Zoey was behind her, arm still in a sling. "Dad called... What's happening?"

Guiltily, she set the picture face down on the shelf. She'd said "'til death do us part," but the feelings of betrayal, anger, helplessness and hopelessness; the ever-present deadness in their youngest daughter's eyes... "In good times and in bad" wasn't supposed to mean murder.
