The priest handed him the Body of Christ: a small wafer, but for Josiah Bartlet, it transcended mere physical existence. Once, years ago, he'd stormed into a room and shouted out to Mary Marsh and her right-wing associates, "I am the LORD your God. You shall have no other gods before me!" It startled them, showed them his Biblical expertise (as thorough as any member of the Right) but today, his connection was deeper than worshipper to God.
Today, it was father to Father.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name... keep her safe... thy kingdom come...
