durham_knits at 08:54pm on 18/01/2006I realized I've been updating a lot less than usual. So here's just a boring, state of the schooling update to fill up flists.
I think things are going well. I'm taking a comtemporary central asia class, which is really interesting, since it's something I really don't know much about. So far we've talked about Turkic languages, which are way cool, and central asian animism. I think I'm going to write a paper on Soviet language policies in Central Asia, and the post-Soviet language reclamation programs. sasha_davidovna, think Jama has any useful info on that? ;)
Arabic is arabic. I think I might be getting sick of taking Arabic classes. Not much I can do about it, eh? It's required, and will be part of my job, so I'll just have to grin and bear it. It's not like I'm not doing well, or anything, I'm just... meh.
So, the last thing on the list is al-thesis. I've got two pages written. Yup. Two pages. And the top of the third. Two out of 30-40. Merg. I suppose it's going well, and it's only the third week of the quarter. If I write one page a day... that's 30-50 days... and the quarter has more days than that left... I guess I'm on track.
